Leeds Dock host the British Street Food Awards
This year, the Waterfront Festival coincides with the British Street Food Awards in a celebration of all things food! Held on Leeds Dock, 15 traders from ‘Scotland and the North’ will battle it out in a cook-off, to decide who goes on to the National final in September! Come down, eat some amazing grub and choose your favourites!
Trading from 10am-5pm on both the Saturday and Sunday of the festival, Leeds Dock will have a whole host of different street food stall battling it out! On the hunt for the best street-food Britain has to offer, the British Street Food Awards were first launched in 2010. Five years on and the competition is hotter than ever. Here’s who you’ll be able to find and who you’ll be voting on:
Pizza Loco – Leeds based pizza joint doling out wood-fired doughy goodness.
Shoot The Bull – From Hull, Shoot The Bull bring restaurant style food to the street (think flat iron steak, pork belly and king scallops).
Well Hung – Manchester born Well Hung will bring 28-day aged steak to the festival.
Dim Sum Su – Authentic Chinese dim sum, gua boa, wontons and spring rolls.
Kukoos – Bradford’s 10 cover restaurant that often trade their Indian street food at local street markets.
Wallace and Sons – Manchester’s John Wallace brings his bao and dumplings to Leeds Dock.
Crema Caravan – All the way from Edinburgh, they dish up Crème Brulee from their special van!
Pickled Porker – From our neighbour, York, Pickled Porker serve up all things pig; cider glazed Yorkshire chorizo and cider-braised pork cheeks to name a few.
KerbEdge – From Hull, KerbEdge serve up handmade burgers made from the finest mince!
Nasi Lemak – On the Saturday only, Nasi Lemak will bring us Malaysian street food.
Fat Annies – Amazing hot dogs, with kraut and homemade sauce, enough said. Sunday only!
Man Meat Fire – Ripon brings us BBQ smoked meats in the form of Man Meat Fire.
Homeboys – 2014 Masterchef finalist Pete Hewitt brings us Homeboys, Japanese soul food – great for veggies!
Cow Boys – Simple, effective double (or triple) pattied burgers from 21-day-aged Hereford beef.
