Now in its ninth year, the festival is an annual celebration of everything that is wonderful about Leeds Waterfront and a fantastic opportunity for everyone to relax, explore and enjoy the spectacular locations along the water. We are proud of our waterfront and love to show off its heritage, opportunities and potential to thousands of visitors every year. The Waterfront Festival will be held on 25th and 26th June 2016, illuminating five miles of Leeds canal and river ways, from the textile heritage of Armley and Castleton Mills to the spectacular location of Granary Wharf; our very own feast of French culture from Brasserie Blanc at Victoria Wharf to a beautiful riverside view at Calls Landing on The Calls, over to the fabulous party vibe at Brewery Wharf, the contemporary arts at the iconic Tetley and of course the legendary dragon boat races at Leeds Dock.
To help you explore the festival over the weekend, we have created a map to act as your guide. There will also be stewards at every location ready to help you move on to the next location too.
This year’s festival will be the biggest yet, with a spectacular offering of arts, music and culture along the tow paths; and boat rides, music, food, drinks and activities for all the family to enjoy!
2016 is a particularly exciting year for the festival as we celebrate the 200th Anniversary of the completion of the Leeds and Liverpool canal. The theme for this year’s festival is ‘heritage’ and as you are guided along the tow paths across the festival sites, you will have the opportunity to explore and engage with arts and activities inspired by the history and heritage of the canal.
