On 25th and 26th June 2016, Leeds Waterfront Festival celebrated its ninth year, showcasing all that is wonderful about the waterways in the heart of the city of Leeds. The festival provides everyone a fantastic opportunity to relax, explore and enjoy the spectacular locations along the Leeds waterfront.  We are proud of our waterfront and love to show off its heritage, opportunities and potential to thousands of visitors every year.

Every year, the festival illuminates five miles of Leeds canal and river ways. This distance spans the textile heritage of Armley and Castleton Mills, the spectacular location of Granary Wharf, our very own feast of French culture at Victoria Wharf’s Brasserie Blanc, the beautiful riverside views at Calls Landing on The Calls and reaches across to the fabulous party vibe at Brewery Wharf, the contemporary arts at the iconic Tetley, the legendary dragon boat races at Leeds Dock and finishes at the glorious Thwaite Mills just out of the city centre.

Last year’s festival was the biggest yet; it had a spectacular offering of arts, music and culture along the tow paths plus boat rides, music, food, drinks and activities for all the family to enjoy!

2016’s festival had a special ‘heritage’ theme, as this year we celebrate the 200th anniversary of the completion of the Leeds & Liverpool Canal. We continue our celebrations in October, when you’ll find an exciting programme of events dedicated to honouring the huge milestone and educating Leeds’ residents and visitors about its fascinating history! Keep your eyes peeled for more details…
