Water Taxis - Twee and Drie!

Always a festival favourite! The awesome little yellow water taxis hosted by Leeds Dock ferrying the crowds all weekend long! Twee & Drie (the boats) have sailed over from Amsterdam to ferry passengers between Granary Wharf & Leeds Dock. The trip takes 12 minutes along a scenic canal route and all journeys are free of charge.

To catch a ride on a cheeky yellow boat walk exit the station via the New South Entrance or walk under the arches to Granary Wharf and the Doubletree by Hilton hotel. The taxis are on the lower water level, hidden out of view – just cross the lock bridge in front of Bar Brasil. Hop on! The Water Taxis run every 15 minutes from either stop. Look out for a yellow flag with water taxi written on in black.

An absolute highlight of the festival! Get involved in our Junk Boat Building Challenge, working in teams to build an amazing craft to sail along the canal. Booking is essential, send us a contact message if you would like to get involved. Saturday is boat building day, using recycled materials to build a strange craft. The race is on Sunday at 1.30 pm when our teams launch their boats and head to Granary Wharf with festival-goers accompanying them along the tow path. But will they float?

Starting from the footbridge at the head of Clarence Dock, your guides will navigate a zig-zag route upriver to Lock 1 of the Leeds-Liverpool Canal. This event will happen on both Saturday and Sunday at 11.30am and 3.30pm. The tour will last for around one hour and is FREE, just turn up!

Pop Up Kayaking

Gather Outdoors, the Leeds based online adventure retailer, are offering the chance to experience a genuinely pop-up micro adventure, in one of their folding Oru Kayaks. Proper kayaks that fold down to the size of a suitcase, the Oru Kayak is a design classic that started life on Kickstarter and now hangs in the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. Gather Outdoors will be offering Festival folk free paddles in their Oru Kayaks, from their stall at Granary Wharf. Stop by for a go, or just chat and a free cuppa whilst the kids make origami boats of their own. Saturday and Sunday 11-4pm.

Junk Boat Building

Watch our teams battle it out to build a boat or raft out of junk (a bit like Scrap-Heap Challenge) - then watch them race down the canal! The teams will be based at Castleton Mill on both days. Come along and view them from the towpath! The junk boats will hit the water at 2pm on Sunday to battle it out to be the 2016 champions of the water! 11-4pm Saturday and Sunday.
